Using tension bands is necessary for any chain link fence installation. Without them, there is no way to keep the fabric upright, and the fence would completely fall apart. This 1 5/8″ Heavy Tension Band has a thicker gauge than traditional tension bands, making it ideal for heavy-duty and long-term use. As you go forward with your installation, a rule of thumb to follow is to use one less tension band than the overall height of the fence (i.e. a 6′ high fence uses 5 tension bands).
