The White House Historical Association has been manufacturing an annual ornament since 1981. Each year, a new design is created honoring the next President in succession. The 2012 White House Ornament highlights William H. Taft (1909-1913), who introduced the automobile to White House transportation in 1909, reducing the reliance on horse-drawn vehicles. The ornament depicts President and Mrs. Taft on their way to deliver Christmas presents, driven by their chauffeur George H. Robinson in the White Motor Companys Model M.
