The 5/8″ x 4 1/2″ (Adjustable) Galvanized Gate Hinge Male Lag Screw is used alongside female gate hinges in order to mount, hang or tighten existing gate installations onto wooden posts and chain-link fences. When installing gates using male lag screws, it is recommended to use at least two lags, and depending on the size of the gate it may be necessary to use three. Installation is quick and easy, requiring only drilling a pilot hole into your post and then tightening into the desired location by using a wrench. Additionally, Male Lag Screws are sometimes used for tightening and modifying the location of existing gates that don’t fit into the desired location because they are adjustable and can be used to change the height or width of the gate installation location, allowing you to refine the alignment into the perfect position.
